Dayi as a county-level administration site began in the Second Xianheng during Gaozong Reign of Tang Dynasty (671AD). The name of the county literally means Big Town, according to the classic book “Land of Peace and Prosperity”.

Dayi, in the western part of Chengdu Plain, is 41 kilometers from Chengdu proper and within the 30-minute traffic circle of Chengdu. The county has an area of 1,327 square kilometers and a population of 518.7 thousand.

The county has enjoyed fame as a “big county” in Sichuan for its long history and diversified topographical features. Descriptions of the county can be found in poems by famous poets like Du Fu and Lu You.

Dayi crowns all the counties in whole Sichuan in the number of Class-4A and above tourist sites and tourism is a leading industry in the county. The county will take tourism, cultural & innovative industry and modern manufacturing as the priorities in its development plan, according to the blueprint of the overall industrial development planning by Chengdu municipal government.

The county government takes an active role in soliciting investors as the New Tianfu Area is under construction and promoting industrial transformation in Dayi, with an aim to strengthen the present three industrial zones in the county in order to make the county the industrial base of modern manufacturing, machinery, food processing, wine and beverage.

大邑，建縣于唐高宗咸亨二年（公元671年），據(jù)《太平寰宇記》載：“其邑廣大，遂以為名”。

大邑，地處成都平原西部，距成都市中心城區(qū)41公里，處于成都半小時經(jīng)濟(jì)圈內(nèi)。幅員面積1327平方公里，轄3鄉(xiāng)17鎮(zhèn)，人口51.87萬。

大邑，1300多年的建縣史和5000余米的海拔高差，造就了古樸厚重的歷史文化底蘊(yùn)和壯麗多姿的生態(tài)自然環(huán)境，素有“蜀之望縣”的美譽(yù)，唐宋著名詩人杜甫、陸游在此留下了“窗含西嶺千秋雪”、“長看天西萬疊青”等千古絕句。

大邑，是全省擁有4A級以上旅游景區(qū)數(shù)量第一縣，旅游業(yè)是大邑現(xiàn)代服務(wù)業(yè)的龍頭，從成都市的戰(zhàn)略規(guī)劃來看，大邑未來的發(fā)展將以旅游業(yè)、文化創(chuàng)意產(chǎn)業(yè)、先進(jìn)制造業(yè)為核心。

大邑，還主動吸收天府新區(qū)輻射，推進(jìn)轉(zhuǎn)型升級，全力建設(shè)現(xiàn)代制造業(yè)基地，以“一區(qū)兩園”為載體，重點(diǎn)發(fā)展機(jī)械加工，新型建材，食品、酒和飲料制造業(yè)。

依托良好的生態(tài)本底和豐富資源，大邑正搶抓國家實(shí)施新一輪西部大開發(fā)戰(zhàn)略和成都市實(shí)施“五大興市戰(zhàn)略”等重大機(jī)遇，以“生態(tài)立縣、文旅興縣、工業(yè)強(qiáng)縣、都市現(xiàn)代農(nóng)業(yè)發(fā)展”為戰(zhàn)略，突出“一城一線三組團(tuán)”發(fā)展重點(diǎn)，奮力將大邑打造成國際旅游目的地、世界生態(tài)田園城鎮(zhèn)示范區(qū)。

“一城一線”，即以縣城、安仁鎮(zhèn)至西嶺雪山走廊示范線建設(shè)為主發(fā)展現(xiàn)代服務(wù)業(yè)；“三組團(tuán)”，則分別是以西嶺雪山、鶴鳴山、霧中山、花水灣溫泉、安仁鎮(zhèn)、新場鎮(zhèn)為主的“三山一泉兩古鎮(zhèn)”組團(tuán)發(fā)展文化旅游業(yè)；以四川大邑經(jīng)濟(jì)開發(fā)區(qū)、沙渠工業(yè)園、王泗食品產(chǎn)業(yè)園組團(tuán)發(fā)展新型工業(yè)；以安仁鎮(zhèn)、韓場鎮(zhèn)、王泗鎮(zhèn)、新場鎮(zhèn)片區(qū)組團(tuán)發(fā)展都市現(xiàn)代農(nóng)業(yè)。
